The Intensivists make daily visits/assessments throughout the duration of the patient’s stay in the STU. The trauma team offers Surgical Critical Care Intensivist Service for Crozer Health surgeons, which enhances the continuity and quality of care for patients undergoing complex surgery, especially those who have advanced cardiac or pulmonary conditions that increase their risk after surgery. Multi-disciplinary ICU rounds are conducted by trauma surgeons to include trauma credentialed nurses, trauma nurse practitioners, residents, respiratory therapists, and a clinical pharmacist and nutritionist, all dedicated to providing critical trauma care.īurn-injured patients are cared for at the Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center with care directed by dedicated burn surgeons. The Surgical Trauma Unit (STU) is a dedicated eight-bed intensive care unit (ICU)for our most critically injured patients, which is directed by 24/7 in-house trauma surgeons who are board certified in Surgical Critical Care. Our radiology department provides diagnostic radiographs and computed tomography (CT) capabilities as well as endovascular treatment of injuries. The facility includes four trauma bays (including one dedicated to burn and pediatric patients) featuring the latest technology and equipment necessary for life-saving efforts. Trauma patients receive initial treatment at Crozer's Emergency Department. In turn, the trauma team gathers the information needed to prepare to treat the patient when he or she arrives. When an EMS unit identifies a traumatic injury, they immediately notify the Trauma Center emergency medical technicians and paramedics are then guided to provide the most effective care for the patient on the way to the hospital. The trauma team works closely with our community’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals to provide lifesaving care at the scene of an emergency. Additionally, our team collaborates with professionals in Crozer’s Radiology, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation departments to provide comprehensive care throughout a patient's stay. ![]() The Trauma Team led by fellowship-trained trauma surgeons coordinates trauma patient care with physicians and nurses from departments across Crozer Health, including emergency medicine physicians, anesthesiologists, interventional radiologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and other surgical specialists. ![]() The in-house team ensures our immediate availability to meet all trauma patient care needs - from admission to discharge to ongoing recovery and rehabilitation.
